Nepal: Past, Present and Future | ZENIT - The World Seen From Rome
Nepal: Past, Present and Future | ZENIT - The World Seen From Rome
Q: You are the country's first bishop. What was your feeling when you were called and appointed?
Bishop Sharma: I wasn't quite happy with that. I've been resisting this appointment for a long time because, I felt, the rightful people that should be honored with this appointment should be coming from the ethnic community, a person from the ethnic community. And this because the majority of our people belong to the ethnic communities in Nepal.
You said earlier on that 75% -- that's debatable I said -- because 70% of our population are ethnic and 20% are only strictly Hindus. But Hindus being the ruling class, they have embraced the 70% and made it 90%. These ethnic communities belong to various caste groups; they have their own rituals, own priests, own rites, everything their own. And they don't like being counted among the Hindus, but they had no choice being under the ruling class.

How To Go on a Mission
My travels have taken me to six of the seven continents in the world. A research expedition to Antarctica is on my bucket list. People ask if traveling is very expensive. It CAN be expensive, but if you really want to see the world, you can do it.
Since graduation from college, my goal has been to go on a mission. My application to the Peace Corps was turned down twice. So now, I am very excited to have the opportunity to go to Nepal and assist with operating a translation business.
To bring everyone up to speed, my meanderings around the world wide web led me into learning more about publishing interactive digital books. There are several different formats for ebooks including Kindle, ibooks, Nook, kobo, and Adobe. Overdrive can be used to locate ebooks and audiobooks at libraries. Then the book can be downloaded to your ereader, computer, or phone.
In exploring this media, an opportunity with Wycliffe Associates arose. I applied online, and was quickly contacted by Human Resources the following day. http://www.wycliffeassociates.org/
After interviews with Human Resources and the Program Director, we got down to discussing costs. Approximately $1500/month is necessary to cover my expenses. I plan to discuss my fundraising efforts in this blog; and then, with success, my donors will get updates through posts on this website.
